It’s really exciting times for those of us who have been working for a more equal world for some time.
Finally, a party to promote women’s equality, and men are very welcome, too.
It doesn’t matter whether you have a political allegiance to another political party, or are fed up to the back teeth with politics, the WEP welcomes you.
I’ve been trying to make a difference most of my adult life. I’m passionate about equality and challenging prejudice and complacency when I see it. It feels like I’ve been waiting a lifetime for a party like this and here it is. I have become a lifetime member.
Will you join me? Collectively we can make a real difference.
Mission Statement of the Women’s Equality Party
#WE are pushing for equal representation in politics and business to ensure women’s voices are heard at the same volume as men’s.
#WE urge an education system that creates opportunities for all children and an understanding of why this matters.
#WE strive for equal treatment of women by and in the media.
#WE are pressing for equal pay and an equal opportunity to thrive.
#WE are campaigning for equal parenting rights enabling all those who are parents to share opportunity and responsibility in the workplace and at home.
#WE seek an end to violence against women.
The party was started by Sandi Toksvig and Catherine Mayer and is growing really fast. The writer Stella Duffy is also a founder member and I will be interviewing her soon.
