Have You Joined the Women’s Equality Party?

It’s really exciting times for those of us who have been working for a more equal world for some time.

Finally, a party to promote women’s equality, and men are very welcome, too.

It doesn’t matter whether you have a political allegiance to another political party, or are fed up to the back teeth with politics, the WEP welcomes you.

I’ve been trying to make a difference most of my adult life. I’m passionate about equality and challenging prejudice and complacency when I see it. It feels like I’ve been waiting a lifetime for a party like this and here it is. I have become a lifetime member.

Will you join me? Collectively we can make a real difference.

Mission Statement of the Women’s Equality Party

#WE are pushing for equal representation in politics and business to ensure women’s voices are heard at the same volume as men’s.

#WE urge an education system that creates opportunities for all children and an understanding of why this matters.

#WE strive for equal treatment of women by and in the media.

#WE are pressing for equal pay and an equal opportunity to thrive.

#WE are campaigning for equal parenting rights enabling all those who are parents to share opportunity and responsibility in the workplace and at home.

#WE seek an end to violence against women.

The party was started by Sandi Toksvig and Catherine Mayer and is growing really fast. The writer Stella Duffy is also a founder member and I will be interviewing her soon.

Here’s a link to the Women’s Equality Party website where you can find out more. Please do share it with anyone you think may be interested, too. Tweet about it, put it on LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+, the works! Thank you.

  1. Hi Jane, yes, I recently joined the Women’s Equality party and very excited that their raison d’être is Women’s equality. I fundamentally believe that women’s equality and advancement both in the UK and around the world is one of the most important challenges to be overcome in the 21st century and its impact would be so far reaching and achieve a positive impact for all. I look forward to attending my first #WE meeting and hope to find one in the Bristol area.

In Brazil we have a similar initiative. A Party made by women for women. We are in the beginning yet, but very excited about it!

I really would like to share experiences with you.

Write me if you are interested!

    Best Regards!
