As a coach, I obviously subscribe to the belief that talking through problems helps resolve them, so I was very interested in this piece of research from the University of California.
Therapeutic
Researchers found that volunteers’ negative responses to pictures of angry or frightened faces decreased when the pictures were accompanied by some descriptive words. They concluded that the presence of words stimulates a different part of the brain which slows or suppresses the more negative emotional response. So find a friend, put your feelings into words, and share your troubles!
