Women Ahead

Women Ahead is a two-day corporate training programme for women who are already at junior/middle-management level and who want to progress further within the workplace, develop their career and break through the ‘glass ceiling’ to senior management and board level positions.

To be successful, women need the opportunity to develop skills and confidence to equip them for senior leadership roles. Women Ahead is designed to help address the four main obstacles that hold women back from progressing during their career (as identified by the Institute of Leadership and Management 2011 report ‘Gender and Ambition’).

These are:

  • Low ambitions and expectations
  • Lack of self-belief and confidence
  • A cautious approach to pursuing career opportunities
  • A less than straightforward career path

If your organisation is committed to developing the talent and potential of your female staff, the Women Ahead programme can effectively address these obstacles and enable you to create a pool of talent to meet future leadership demands.

What does Women Ahead deliver?

Day One encourages participants to explore and revitalise their career aspirations, learn how to improve communication in the workplace, particularly between men and women, and understand how being a woman promotes or inhibits progress in the business world.

Day Two focuses on clarifying aims for the future, identifying leadership qualities, setting new goals and looking at strategies for maintaining work-life balance and long-term success.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Clarify and raise their career expectations and ambitions
  • Identify their values and the impact these have on life choices
  • Recognise their strengths & characteristics & how these fit with the qualities of good leadership
  • Discover how positive thinking and stress management can benefit their performance at work
  • Identify the skills and qualities they need to develop in order to progress in their career
  • Learn how to raise their profile and visibility as a woman in the workplace
  • Explore boundaries to manage their work-life balance
  • State their aims for the future, set new goals and go for them!
  • Look at strategies for maintaining long-term success

This two-day programme is informal, insightful and practical and delivers powerful results. I also offer follow-up coaching support to fully embed the results of the course into everyday practice.

I was able to focus on my strengths and abilities, acknowledge them for myself and own them as being part of my self. It was not that I suddenly became a different person, it was that I emerged and allowed myself to be the person I am and will continue to be: a strong, vibrant and very hard working person. Thank you!
