Do you frequently feel motivated and determined to do something different? Do you usually succeed in what you set out to do? (If the answer is yes, pat yourself on the back and stop reading; you clearly have it all sussed, well done.)
For those still with me, do you regularly set yourself Career Goals? The simple act of writing down what what you want to achieve can be a real boost to making sure you achieve it.
We’ve been studying some of the evaluation forms from participants on our RenewYou courses and one thing is coming through clearly; writing down what we want to do reinforces our intention and helps us to actually do it. There’s even some research to back this up. The research was on motivating people to take regular exercise but the principle is the same. It discovered that those who had a plan, and wrote their intentions down, had a much higher success rate than others, MUCH higher as you can see below.
Do yourself a big favour this week. Take 20 minutes to jot down what you want to achieve over the next 6 months, plan it out very specifically, and stick it where you can see it often! It will help you be an achiever rather than a ‘one day‘er…
